Nas Lemoore Base Map - November 28: Thanksgiving Day Yesterday I called the Lemoore Naval Air Station RV Park because we will be there for the holiday. I got the information I needed from the foundation, which is in our new location.

Last Monday there was a big storm. Strong winds kicked up dirt from the plowed fields and dust from the trees hanging from our RV. Later on Tuesday, the rain turned the dust into mud covering our car.

We continued to the gas station and stopped at Jet Mart to check it out.
Back at the RV park, we are at Site #15. I planned a Thanksgiving dinner (see previous post) and we called it a night.

We keep looking at the sky. Now it is raining heavily and stormy. We didn't want to drive in bad weather, so we asked Mark if we could add two more days to our stay and he could do it. He is the best host.
Today the weather is mostly sunny. It's a good time to take our laundry to the laundromat. I don't mind doing this all the time, but free mechanics are very tempting.

Naval Air Station Lemoore or NAS Lemoore (IATA: NLC, ICAO: KNLC, FAA LID: NLC) is a United States air base, located in Kings County and Fresno County, California, United States. Lemoore Station, a csus facility, is located in the central area.
NAS Lemoore is the Navy's newest and largest air base. Strike Fighter Wing Pacific, and its forces, are at home there.
NAS Lemoore also has five aircraft carriers: Carrier Air Wing Two (CVW-2), Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5), Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9), Carrier Air Wing Elev (CVW-11), and Carrier Air Wing Sevte (CVW-17).

Commissioned in 1961, NAS Lemoore, as seen from the aerial view above, is a large and unique from the fields of Ctral California, due to its massive construction. It is the US Navy's newest aircraft carrier. It has two runways, approximately 4,600 feet (1,400 meters) apart. The airport and maintenance facilities are located between the 13,500-foot (4,100 m) runway. In July 1998, NAS Lemoore was selected as the West Coast staging area for the Navy's newest attack aircraft, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. The Navy also brought four new soldiers to NAS Lemoore from 2001 to 2004. Most likely, you will fly from Fresno Yosemite International Airport, as it is the largest airport for NAS Lemoore. You can take taxis or other transportation services, such as Lyft and Uber, from the airport to NAS Lemoore. Also, you can go by car or bus.
The base entry requirement for non-affiliated, non-affiliated personnel and visitors is the completion and submission of SECNAV Form 5512/1 on behalf of their sponsor. Only active duty, reservists, retirees, residents (must be 16 years or older), and DoD government employees may bring visitors to the facility. Sponsors must meet their guests at the entrance and stay with them for the duration of the tour.
Your entry point will vary depending on what you are applying for. Remember to check with your sponsor before arriving, read your orders carefully, and/or call the quartermaster for check-in information. If your order is currently being served, please check with the Transient Personnel Detachment (TPD), located at Building 880 at the corner of Enterprise Ave and Franklin Ave. Normal business hours at TPD are Monday-Friday from 0800 – 1600.
